Tag..I'M IT!

My friend Tracy from iHeartTknight tagged me in her Bloggers Purse Tag and I have graciously accepted. Soooo...Here we go:

The Bag of Choice:

Today I just so happened to be carrying a Balenciaga inspired bag in brown. Definitely not one of my flashiest bags but still cute nonetheless.

The Contents:

This is pretty much what I carry everyday. So yes, when I switch purses DAILY, I the babies go with me. It may not seem like a lot but I can definitely pack a purse like the best of em LOL! Here's my list:

1. My leopard bag
It actually houses a smaller version of itself on the inside which holds my ....Ummmm..."Womanly Things"  if you know what I mean LOL. Also inside are my go-to lip glosses and lip balm, floss, a couple hand sanitizer, Evian spray and Ibuprofen.

2. Keys and Mase
Keys for my apartment, my car and my parents house in Arkansas, a cute silver "b" that I've had since high school and mase my mom bought me when I moved to Dallas. Gotta love mommies and their paranoia  :-)

3.Gum
A MUST! I eat way to much garlic and onions SMH!

4. A pair of shades
This cute pair I instagrammed about. They are inspired by the Prada Baroque sunnies from line S'S 2011 line. These also change depending on which purse I'm carrying and clothes I'm wearing. After all, all coordinating accessories are a must as well, right!

5. Specs and Case
I'm new to the corrective eyeglasses gang and these bad boys cost a pretty penny so I MUST protect them.

6. Lotion
This one is from Victoria's Secret. Smells. I usually stock up during sales and rotate them in depending on what scent I'm coveting at the time.

7. My wallet.
I'm not really a pink person but I love this Nicole Miller wallet because of the print and the practicality of it. It's made just like a HOBO wallet...without the cost of course.

8. My NEW business cards...
they match my blog, of course!

9. iPhone charger and earbuds
Another MUST!

And there you have it! This was pretty painless so I guess I'll keep the TAG going. Until next time!

No more Battle Wounds....

Yes, you read correctly....my battle wounds are NO MORE! I found the perfect worn-in military jacket. If you read my previous post ( How dare you if not!) you know the dilemmas I've faced on my journey, however, I did just as I said and succeeded in my quest. I only visited 2 places before I found it.

The first place only had new, unworn jackets available which meant they didn't exude the character and vintage-y feel I was going for AND they were $34.99. Now while $35 isn't bad for a jacket, I just wasn't ecstatic when it came to purchasing a jacket lacking the character I was lusting after. After minutes of staring the jacket down and walking around the store with it swung over my arm, my boyfriend suggested to try another store. I obliged and took to Google (Seriously, what did we do before smartphones) and found
another store about 20 minutes away.

After fighting to through the Saturday traffic and lovely construction of Dallas, we arrived. I have to admit, had my boyfriend not been with me, I probably wouldn't have gone in and definitely wouldn't have fulfilled my Saturday wish so thanks, Kevy! After he laughed at me for pre-judging the store, we strolled into a place called Army Navy Plus, Inc on Harry Hines. I spotted the jackets the second we opened the door. After shelving through the rack of brand new jackets with a price tag of $25, I realized that this may be my destiny to be forced to take to my knees and give a jacket my own version of character. I grabbed a few off the rack and walked to find a mirror when low and behold, there stood another rack with USED jackets with all the character flaws I wanted. I scoured the rack for the price tags and found they were.... $14! I instantly got a happy feeling! I grabbed a small long, a army patch for $.99 and snagged a friend of mine one (we've been on this quest with one another so it was only right lol).

After I left, I realized my little brothers could totally swag these out and I even made my boyfriend try on one which he claimed he liked but I think he wasn't completely sold on. Since I'm a trend pusher, I'm sure I'll opt to go back to snag 3 more to style the guys in my life sooner than later. If only my 40-something year old dad could pull it off....*ponders* NAH lol! I'll leave it to the youngins!

Anywho, if you're in the Dallas-area and have been looking I just may have ended your manhunt. Pop into Army Navy Plus, Inc.

I also found a store called Imperfect Concepts based in Dallas who also sales preworn jackets for 35.00. She is the thrift-store queen, I tell ya! Check out the boutique at ImperfectConcepts.com. Until then....

Stylishly Britt "IT" girl: Miroslava Duma

While majority of the fashion weeks of the world  are behind us (there's a few more days of Milan Fashion week then Paris fashion week will be the last) I have to admit that I am still clinging and excited to see what street-styleRS are wearing.

For the past 5 years, this has pretty much been my constant routine: I take to my computer, now my iPhone,  and flip through various blogs and magazine sites to view the hundreds of snapshots of the attendees of the shows. Its pretty safe to say that of each of those 5 years there is always the face of a lady that I've actually come quite smitten with...Miroslava Duma. I have come accustomed to seeing her perfectly-styled petite frame plastered on my screen, no matter the website. I love that she's super girly and yet slightly edgy as she LOVES to play with color and is known to be spotted with the  hottest "IT" accessory!

Who is my fashion "IT" girl, you ask? Well, Mrs. Duma's claim to international fame was as an editor for Harper's Bazaar (Russia). While she has left the couveted position behind, she now freelances for magazines in Russia such as OK! and Glamour. Of course, while not working behind a computer, Ms. Thang struts her stuff and serves it for the masses and inspire fashionistas like me to write about her... Damn, you Mirolslava!

Check below some candids from my "IT" girl below and keep in mind some of these photos are literally from 2008 and 2009...she quite the trend-predictor, right?!

Cap(E) it off...

Fall is upon us in some places while in Dallas, it feels like Summer has been resurrected ( with this past weekend being the exception) *sigh*. Well, whenever Mother Nature allows, I'm going to excitedly pull out a blazer and resist the temptation to use those traditional arm holes and rather.... Just Cap(e) it Off!

I have been spotting this trend all of the blogosphere but have yet to see anyone in person rock it like the Superwoman they are. I'll for sure be giving this trend a try so when you see me just call me SuperBritt: Serving fashion trends to all of mankind! *giggle*

Get inspired to bring out your inner heroine with the looks below:

Snapshot: Angela Simmons for Pynk Magazine

I'm sure all of you ladies have that nostalgic tv show that, although the re-runs are forever constant and although you've probably seen the episodes thousands of times, you still get giddy over seeing the name on your digital TV guide! While I have several comedic sitcoms that give me the before-mentioned feeling (i.e. Martin, Save by the Bell, The Jeffersons just to name a few) there is only 1 show that marries fashion, comedy & true life issues as well as....... Sex & the City!

I remember back in the 90's I used to hear the rumblings about this particular show on HBO that was just to die for but of course at that time I was only in middle school and frankly...I didn't too much care. It wasn't until around 2003 when MTV aired a reality tv show titled "Rich Girls" ( it followed the daughter of Tommy Hilfiger, Ally Hilfiger and her bestie Jamie Gleuchier) that I began to take notice. I remember distinctively on 1 episode they raved about how it was imperative that they make it home before the series finale of their favorite show, you guessed it, Sex & the City aired. Every since then I have been glued to the tv when a marathon is on & have "Oooo'd & Awwww'd" at the fashion. To me Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda are the quintessential New Yorkers so when I saw Pynk Magazine shot this Sex & the City themed shoot with Angie, it was love at 1st sight! Angela looks gorgeous and the creative team did an awesome job of capturing the essence of my fave New Yorkers. It's safe to say the spread truly CARRIED away...

Can you guess which look from left to right is which character?
My guess is (left to right:) Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha then Miranda. What do you think?

Battle Wounds...

So for the past 3 days, I've been slaving over my iPhone, laptop and work computer looking for the perfect army jacket. Literally, I've spent countless hours searching for online options, stalking people on instagram trying to find out where exactly they snagged theirs and cleaning my wounds from kicking myself for not starting this journey earlier (i.e. the title Battle wounds lol). While I've found more affordable options, there seems to always be something that just isn't quite right with them...either they're way too expensive, they just don't give off that "vintage-y" feeling I'm longing for OR I'm left feeling skeptical on which size to order for the perfect slouchy feel...SIGH! So this weekend I'm taking matters in my on hands, well, I putting my hands on the steering wheel rather and driving out to a few Army Surplus stores to pick up one and try customizing it myself. I'll let you guys know what I find but until then take at look at some street-stylers battling the streets in their gorgeous fatigues.

Printed/Screen Tees

If you follow me on Instagram, you've probably noticed that I am absolutely loving printed/screen tees. They are super versatile & well, comfy! I've been sporting mine with denim cutoffs, blazers & cardis (this Dallas weather has already started to change) BUT, I am loving the way the the summer staple looks paired with SUPER luxe bottoms like sequins & lace or more business-oriented skirts such as fitted pencil skirts. As I was skimming through the fashion week street style photos, I found myself grinning at these ladies which only further mounted my current infatuation. Take a look for some inspiration. I'll be sure to taking mine into fall, for sure.

Get You Some... OXBLOOD

As you may have seen in my previous Fall Wish list post, I am LOVING the Oxblood trend. Oxblood, though sounds gory, is a gorgeous reddish-brown color that should be making itself to your wardrobe sooner than later. This color can easily be interpreted in pretty much any aspect...lips, nails, clothing, shoes, accessories...you name it. As I was skimming through some older Instagram pix, I noticed that 26 weeks ago, this fashionista sported the color on my feet in a gorgeous pair of Vince Camuto boots and a matching bag. *pats self on the back*

Still need more inspiration before taking the plunge? Just look below:

New Section: Daily Reads

As you may know, I'm an avid blog reader. I literally have a list of sites called my "Reading List" on my iPhone that I go to while on the go. I'm just in love with what others are thinking, how others are playing (socially) and in what others are wearing. Inspiration can be found any and everywhere so get inspired people and check out my new section on the side bar, DAILY READS. I'll continue to transfer more from my iPhone list to my Daily Reads list as the days go on. Until then enjoy these heavy hitters.
